MLSCN reviews Critical Bio-Safety Documents for better Health Safety

The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) has reviewed critical bio-safety guidance documents to enhance public health safety nationwide.

Led by Dr. Osaretin Agbonlahor, Assistant Director and Head of the Public Health Laboratory & Biological Risk Management Unit, and Ms. Dauda Ogarga, Biosafety Officer at the National Reference Laboratory, the review focused on the Guidelines on Bio-safety and Security, Waste Management, and the Safe Transport of Exempt Substances.

These updated documents, to be made available on the MLSCN website, are designed to improve safe practices in handling biohazardous materials. To ensure compliance, MLSCN will provide remote and onsite training for practitioners, aiming to strengthen bio-safety standards across Nigeria’s healthcare system.“Our goal is to safeguard public health by promoting secure handling of hazardous materials,” said Dr. Agbonlahor.
