Honourable Minister of State for Health & Social welfare commends MLSCN for upholding Quality Standards
The Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, has commended the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) for upholding quality standards in medical laboratory practice. He made the remark at the presentation of certificates to nine medical laboratories accredited to ISO 15189: 2012 and 2022 standards, today in Abuja.
Salako also congratulated MLSCN on the re-accreditation of the National External Quality Assessment Laboratory (NEQAL). While commending the newly-accredited facilities, he underscored the importance of innovation and excellence in Medical Laboratory Science in enhancing Nigeria’s healthcare system.
Earlier in his address, the Registrar/CEO, Prof Tosan Erabor highlighted NEQAL’s crucial role in ensuring accurate and reliable diagnosis, reinforcing its significance in quality assurance. As part of this commitment, he noted, “MLSCN has conducted External Quality Assurance Proficiency Tests (EQA/PT) for over 2,000 laboratories nationwide, strengthening their capacity to combat major diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, and HIV/AIDS in line with global standards.”
