MLSCN marks 2025 World Accreditation

The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, through its Accreditation Service, today pledged its unwavering commitment to supporting quality and accreditation across the entire spectrum of medical laboratories in the country. The assurance was contained in the address of the Acting Registrar/CEO, Dr. Donald I. Ofili, commemorating the 2025 World Accreditation Day, in Abuja, with the theme: “Empowering Small and Medium Enterprises”.
According to him, the MLSCN Accreditation Service would fully support medical laboratories seeking accreditation by providing technical assistance and guidance, facilitating capacity building, streamlining accreditation processes as well as collaborating with stakeholders. “We will strengthen our collaborations with government agencies, professional bodies, development partners and, indeed, all medical laboratories, to foster a culture of quality and drive the accreditation agenda forward, “he said.
While making a renewed case for government laboratories to key into accreditation, he further noted that doing so, would elevate public health standards, and strength disease surveillance and control. Re-echoing the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare’s agenda on strengthening the healthcare system, improving access to quality care, and ensuring accountability,” Ofili added: “Accreditation of government laboratories directly contributes to these laudable objectives.”
