MLSCN BOSS REITERATES COMMITMENT TO CAPACITY BUILDING
The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), Dr Tosan Erhabor has reiterated the commitment of his administration to capacity building for staff of the agency. The Registrar, who stated this during the opening ceremony of the Capacity Building program for middle management staff of the agency in Nasarawa State on May 11, noted that it would be difficult to harness the benefits of the cutting-edge technology being deployed at MLSCN without competent staff to handle such.
According to him, the management retreat earlier held for the top echelon of the Council identified gaps that made the training of middle-level management staff imperative, adding that leaving out those on whom the Council relies to implement its policies would be counter-productive. “The middle-level management is central to our strategy to remain competitive as a regulatory body. If we are to justify our claim to being a world-acclaimed regulatory agency, then we must prioritize staff empowerment to enable them adapt to emerging realities, especially within the health laboratory system,” he said.
Erhabor, therefore, urged the participants to imbibe lessons from the program and continue to uphold the core values of the Council, assuring that his administration would always reward those who distinguish themselves in their duties. “Management would also ensure that members of staff work in a friendly environment that encourages productivity where no hardworking member of staff would be left behind,” he said.
The Class Captain, James Ogbeche, on behalf of the participants, thanked the Management for approving the program despite the prevailing economic climate in the country, assuring that the participants would apply whatever knowledge gained from the program when they return to their duty posts.
