MLSCN HOSTED EXAM WORKSHOP IN ABUJA
The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) recently held an examination workshop in the nation’s capital city of Abuja. The three day workshop was aimed at acquainting those directly and indirectly involved in the MLSCN exams with the new standards and rules in conducting the Council’s examinations.
This workshop is one amongst many others instituted by the present administration to align its stakeholders and others concerned, with the numerous innovations it had introduced into the running of affairs in the regulatory body.
While declaring the workshop open, the Registrar/CEO Dr. Tosan Erabhor, noted to the participants that “this workshop is aimed at aligning the conduct and attitude of examination functionaries in accordance with MLSCN standard, create uniformity in the reporting of examination’s outcome and further help to curb examination malpractices, disparities in standards as well as reduce or at best eradicate any form of compromise during professional examinations, thus protecting the image of the council and promoting quality and excellence in medical laboratory science education and practice in Nigeria”.
The keynote address delivered by Prof M.F Useh was on “Standards in the conduct of MLSCN examinations”.

Ethical issues and exam misconduct in MLSCN examination;
Considerations in preparation of standard exams, questions and marking schemes;
Overview of MLSCN Examinations;
Roles of exam functionaries in MLSCN Exams;
Essentials of MLSCN Examination reports;
Overview of leadership issues and application of emotional intelligence in MLSCN Exams;
Budgeting and Retirement of MLSCN examination funds;
Online application of mlscn portal for student’s indexing; and
Online application of mlscn portal for student’s examination.
The workshop was wrapped up with post workshop test for all participants and evaluation of the workshop by all participants.
